Forum Post of the Day: Chatroom of the Scourge World of Warcraft
Sat Jan 29, 2011 8:17 am by PeteDorr
I don't know exactly what's so funny about this long chatlog between some of the more popular undead and evil NPCs of the game (maybe just how similar this crowd ends up being to us), but it is hilarious. Basically a sequel to the old boss chat, this one has "theLichKing" chatting with "Killzone'jaeden" and "An00barak" about everything from how cold it is in Icecrown …

This is the reformation of automatic talker scripts. The program uses Java's regular expressions to parse chat for maximum flexibility and precision. I present the wonder that is mtheoryninja's AutoTalker, an RSBot script which can run concurrently with any other script!
Features:
•Uses regular expressions for maximum accuracy in chat parsing.
•Built-in commands to pause, resume, and stop the script.
•Won't keep saying the same thing! It will wait 10 minutes before it says the same phrase again!
•However, the level responder only waits 5 minutes before it will talk again, in order to make the possibility of ignoring someone smaller.
•Accounts for popular misspellings, colloquialisms, and internet slang!
•Responds to Greetings (hi, hey, yo, etc)
•Responds to Inquisitive Greetings (what's up, sup, etc)
•Responds to "How are you"s and "How are you doing"s
•Responds to "What are you doing?"s
•Responds to "What level are you"s by complete sentences, just the level, and quick chat!
•Responds to "How long have you been doing/training"s
•If someone says, "say <this> if not a bot/say <this> or I report", the bot will say that word
•Responds to botter remarks without assuming they were aimed at you! [Great if there are multiple bots ;-)]
•However, if someone says your name and a botter remark, it will respond with things like "no", "nope", etc.
•Responds to Trades/Assists/Duel requests with "I'm busy" remarks
•Option to respond with "Be quiet" remarks if they say your name or an abbreviation of it
•Option to respond with generic laughter comments (lol, haha, heh, etc) if someone else says it
•Responds to people leaving
•Responds to congrats remarks after leveling if said within 15 seconds.
•Responds to nice level remarks if said within 15 seconds of having said your level.
•Responds when people say 'back'.
Why should you use an autotalker?
When I say autotalker, what do you think? What do you think its purpose is? Let me tell you. Bots get banned...a lot. Why is this? Jagex's so called detection methods? No, it's player reports. When your character is fishing or woodcutting, it is so easy to tell who's not really there. All it takes is one person asking for woodcutting levels, then in their minds you've been labeled a bot. If they do their runescapian civil duty, they report you. Now, the problem is obvious. We need a way to make them doubt that we are bots. That's where an autotalker comes in. An autotalker is not designed to answer every possible question. It is not designed to carry on a conversation. It is designed to create that seed of doubt in someone's mind. It is designed to make people question themselves. That doubt stops people from sending in reports. That is why an autotalker works, and that is why you need this one.
Version History for AutoTalker
Code:
Version 2.23
* Says 'welcome back' if someone says 'back'.
* When someone asks "say <this> if not a bot", the bot will say that word.
* * * Made the dungeoneering regex more flexible.
* * * Made the nice level regex even more flexible.
* * * Made the nice level regex more flexible.
* The entire script has been converted to use regular expressions to parse chat.
* The entire script has been optimized to perform faster.

* Changed the coding so it now runs slightly faster.
* Added a generic responder to "nice level" remarks.
* * * Fixed the lol responder from picking up "lol" remarks in the middle of words.
* * * Added more words to greetDoingQs[].
1.063

* Added more input checking in "What is your level?"s to prevent from answering to "My level in ... is ...".
* * * Fixed a huge problem of saying the wrong lvl when user doesn't specify the skill in the question. (kind of hacked it, not pretty, but it works without problems.).
1.01
* Added fire making, wood cutting, and rune crafting to fm[], wc[], and rc[].
1.00
* Initial ReleaseVersion History for AutotalkerScript
Code:
Version 1.060

* Added a stop function
* * * Fixed the commands from spamming the log.
* Added quick chat functionality.
* * * Added a static variable, VERSION.
* * * Removed a touch of old, useless code.
* * * The script now logs the version of itself and AutoTalker.
* * * Only logs lastMsg and response if both are non-empty strings.
* * * Added code so you now much be logged in before running script.
* Calls talker.justLeveled when a skill is leveled.
* Consistently checks and makes sure that talker contains updated levels
1.00
* Initial release.How to Use!
Download both java files, put them in RSBot/Script/Sources folder, then compile.
If this does not work, download the class files and use those.
When you want to use the AutotalkerScript, run it first, then run the script to do the botting.
To pause the script, type "@pause" in the chat box. To resume, "@resume". To stop, "@stop". It is recommended that you type this in a clan chat window to be less obvious.
Notes about the Mimic Lol and Name Recognition option:
•The mimic toggle obviously toggles whether you want to reply with generic laughter whenever someone else does. This is good for skills like woodcutting or fishing where everyone is bunched together and pretty much talking together. However, it's terrible for solo skills like firemaking, runecrafting, or any other skill where the person moves too much to have a conversation.
•Finally, the name recognition toggles whether you want to reply when someone says your name or part of your name. The name recognition is not recommended for anyone with names like "tehepicwin", "noobkilla", "betterthanyu", or any other name with generic/common words. This is because if someone in your area calls the person next to them a noob, and your name is "noobslayer", the recognition code will pick that up and respond. For people with names like "mtheoryninja", "khazalerp", "ailaila", or other names which do not contain common words, it's great! Another note: name recognition only triggers when the only thing in the input line is part of your name. Id est: "You're a noob" won't trigger name recognition for "noobslayer".

FAQ
Q: Script tries typing two outputs to a single input.
A: You're running two threads of my script. Quit RSBot and restart.
Q: Script lags terribly.
A: Update to newest version. Test out the 'reduce lag' option. If problem persists, sorry you're SOL.
Q: Why does the script go "QCJ"?
A: QC is the key for using quick chat. You see QCJ, but the script actually used the game's quick chat feature to respond.
Q: The scripts responds when I talk; what's going on?
A: I didn't program it to check whether the script runner is the one talking or not. I have no plans to change this. If you want to talk yourself, use @pause to pause the script execution.
To Do:
* Add a "How much XP until lvl" responder
* Add a "I'm bored" responder.
Known Bugs
•If people are speaking rapidly, the bot may not have time to grab the message off the chat before someone else speaks (thus causing it to not respond). Not a bug, but an annoying issue.
•Bot has been known to cause lag. HOWEVER, I just (9th Dec, 2010) added an option to HOPEFULLY reduce lag. No promises, though.
Enjoy!
